Weekly Wave: November 16, 2025
Welcome to another meet week Sawtooth families! It seems like we are saying that a lot lately, and that is a good thing. This coming weekend we have the Nampa Thanksgiving Meet on Saturday & Sunday!
Sawtooth Block Party Meets:
This past Saturday & Sunday we welcomed swimmers from PVST, Streamliners, Caldwell Swim Club and others to ICAC for our first ever Block Party meets! The meets featured around 100 swimmers each day and we were thrilled with how they went. Sawtooth had 53 swimmers participate over the 2 days; swimming in 271 individual events. Over the course of the meets Sawtooth swimmers raced home to 195 new personal best times. The 10 & under swimmers once again showed up and swam wonderfully in the backstroke & breaststroke events. On the weekend we also saw swimmers set multiple new team records as well as an SRS record for Chloe in the 50 fly!. It was a great first block party meet experience and we expect to do some more throughout the year.

Swimmer Tips:
Sculling is one of the most popular drills swimmers have at their disposal to improve swimming performance. Sculling can be used to improve your feel for the water, improve forearm strength, and even expand range of movement in key parts of the stroke, leading to more efficient technique.
How Sculling Can Improve Feel, Technique and Speed in the Water
By far, the number one nutritional deficiency I see in competitive swimmers in my medical practice is a deficiency of calories. While often our society considers the word βCalorieβ to be a bad word, swimmers cannot fall victim to this mindset. A calorie is, by definition, a unit of energy. And swimmers need to think of calories as their energy that will fuel their training and performance, rather than something to limit or avoid.
This Weekβs Schedule:
Congratulations Sedona:
Congratulations to Sedona on being named the Idaho High School Athletic Association female athlete of the week this past week. Sedona was part of the winning 200 medley relay as well as the 400 free relay and she won the 200 IM & the 100 BR individually. All 4 wins resulted in new state records and helped lead Bishop Kelly to their 2nd consecutive 6A State Title.
